Introduction

Hello, everyone!

My name is Ethan! I’m one of the organizers of this volunteering group. I will likely be writing the majority of the blog posts on this site. I think that most of these posts will be pretty short and formulaic, so I figured that it would be nice to start things off with a bit more of a personal introduction.

Our goals with these posts are pretty simple: to keep everyone updated on what we’re doing as a volunteering group and to keep a record of our activity as a group. I aim to write a blog post for every performance that we do as a group, and for any major events going on with our group as well.

Since this is the first blog post on our website, we haven’t been able to write blog posts for our past performances. As such, I will just list them out retroactively here.

Of course, we also had another performance today (July 14th,) but that will get its own blog post later on.

What’s With the Thumbnail?

The photo used as the thumbnail image for this blog post was taken pretty early on in our volunteering; we hadn’t even come up with a name yet. Since we had no name as a group, and since it was primarily just Josh and me volunteering as a pair, the recreation coordinators at the care facilities that we volunteered at would often come up with names for our group. One of the names they came up with, which we found particularly amusing, was “Music with Josh and Ethan.” Sadly, I do not believe that we took a photo of the whiteboard where this was written.

Looking back, helping to run this volunteer group has been an awesome experience; all the people involved (the recreation coordinators, the residents of the care facilities, and all of the volunteers) have been so supportive and wonderful to work with overall. I look forward to this new chapter in our group’s activities.
